Aquila is a Black Hills Corporation company that provides electric and natural gas service to approximately 900,000 customers in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.
Black Hills Corporation acquired Aquila's natural gas properties in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska, and its electric properties in Colorado, on July 14th. Aquila's Missouri electric properties were merged into a subsidiary of Great Plains Energy and operate as Kansas City Power and Light.
At the beginning of 2008, Aquila's assets totaled $2.7 billion, sales were $1.475 billion and net loss was $5.4 million.
